There are plenty of activities to do in Doolin, enough to keep you busy for a good few days! Here is a little selection of our favourites.

Cliffs of Moher Walking Trail
The hiking trail between Doolin and the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre offers breathtaking views along the wild and rugged coastline. It is 8km to the Visitor Centre, which is located near the highest point of the Cliffs. The trails continues continues on to Hags Head for a further 5km.

As mentioned above, the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre is located near O’Brien’s Tower at the highest point of the cliffs. The Visitor Centre offers a very informative indoor exhibition as well as a café and crafts shop. The best time to visit the Cliffs of Moher is definitely in the evening, for example after 4pm.

Doolin Cave & Wild at the Cave Café
Located a little outside the village, Doolin Cave is only 5 minutes drive or 25 minutes walk from the Rainbow Hostel. It is home to the Great Stalactite, which at 7.3 metres makes it the largest in the northern hemisphere. In fact it is the 3rd largest stalactite worldwide, so make sure not to miss this opportunity! In addition to the cave, you can also enjoy the farmyard nature trail around the centre. Their beautiful shop features, among other products, a selection of Doolin Cave pottery items, made with clay from the cave. After your tour of the cave, enjoy some delicious treats at their café “Wild At The Cave”. It is run by a local business called Wild Catering Company and the food is delicious.

Doolin Music House
Enjoy a relaxed and informal music session and story telling by the fireside at Doolin Music House, the home of traditional music legend Christy Barry, and his partner Sheila Quinn. Christy is always joined by some musician friends and Sheila will provide you with a very warm welcome and local delicacies.

Aran Islands & Cliffs of Moher Cruise
While you are in Doolin we highly recommend taking a trip to the Aran Islands and to also experience a Cliffs of Moher Cruise, which offers a unique perspective of this natural wonder. There are two ferry companies which operate from the pier and both offer a great service : Doolin2Aran Ferries and Doolin Ferry Company.

Killilagh Church & Graveyard
This 17th century Church ruin sits on top of a hill overlooking the village. It is a magnificent site located 5-10 mins walk from the Rainbow Hostel, on a very quiet road. Spend a couple of hours exploring there, bring a picnic and enjoy the view.
Monday Night Session at Fitz’s Bar
Fitzpatrick’s Bar (“Fitz’s”, as the locals call it) is only 5-10 minutes walk from the hostel. Every Monday night, summer or winter, there is a brilliant music session from a group of local musicians with a few visiting musicians thrown in for good measure. Great tunes and plenty of singing at this session.

Doolin Pitch & Putt
This beautiful 18-hole links course is located just before Doolin Pier, about 20 minutes walk from the Rainbow Hostel, going through the village. Have some fun and play the game while you enjoy spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands.
Doolin Rent-A-Bike
Located in Fisher Street, Doolin Rent-A-Bike has a selection of touring bikes for rent, catering for large groups as well as families and single riders. They also provide advice on official cycle routes and a few unofficial ones!
The Burren
The Burren is a very special place of rugged beauty with stunning landscapes and a rich archeological and cultural heritage. Take the time to explore the area while you are staying in Doolin. Read more about the Burren here.
